Tottenham are without a win in six games and face Arsenal next.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker has criticised the club’s performance against Bayer Leverkusen.

Spurs were beaten 1-0, losing their second successive game at Wembley in the Champions League.

The club now have just four points from four games, and are up against it to qualify for the last 16.

Lineker, speaking to BT Sport, described Tottenham’s performance as abject, listing their only positives as ‘what ifs’.

He said: “It is just not happening for Tottenham. Two defeats, both at Wembley. It was a poor performance all round from Tottenham’s players, but you have to give credit to Bayer Leverkusen.

“There was not much to enthuse about Tottenham’s performance, they could have had a penalty maybe, Dier hit the bar, aside from that they were abject.”

Lineker went onto look forward, regarding Tottenham’s weekend clash with North London rivals Arsenal. He said: “If they play like that against the Gunners they will be in big trouble.”

Tottenham are now without a win in their last six matches in all competitions, while Arsenal are in top form, recording a 3-2 win over Ludogorets in midweek.

Despite the very different results in recent weeks, Tottenham and Arsenal are separated by just three points, with the Gunners hoping to extend their lead over their rivals to six.

The chance to get back to winning ways could kickstart Tottenham’s season, but with the game being held at The Emirates, they will have to overcome the odds to do it, with their Premier League unbeaten record at real risk of being broken.
