Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson wining the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award.

As announced on FWA’s official Twitter page this morning, Henderson has been crowned the Footballer of the Year for the 2019-20 season.

The England international midfielder, who captained Liverpool to the Premier League title this season, beat Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford to the accolade, according to Sky Sports.

Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool were also in the running for the prestigious award, according to the report.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Everton striker Lineker has praised Henderson for winning the award, and he has also responded to City manager Pep Guardiola’s comments about the Liverpool players always winning.

Meanwhile, it seems that former City left-back Michael Ball is not pleased that Henderson has won the FWA award.

According to WhoScored, Henderson has made 26 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool this season, scoring four goals and providing five assists in the process.
