Leeds United have just been involved in yet another ding-dong clash on their Premier League return.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side narrowly lost 4-3 to champions Liverpool last week in what was a pulsating first game back in the top flight for 16 years.
The visit of Fulham at Elland Road this afternoon promised a much more serious game but, once again, there was chaos at both ends of the field for Leeds.
The hosts were leading 4-1 with less than half-an-hour to play following a double from Helder Costa and additional efforts from Mateusz Klich – who scored a penalty – and Patrick Bamford.
But a quickfire double from Bobby Reid and Aleksandar Mitrovic set up an anxiety-filled last quarter for the United fans, but their team held out in the end.
Earlier, Mitrovic had cancelled out Costa’s first-half opener from the penalty spot after Robin Koch was controversially adjudged to have fouled Joe Bryan but, even after a VAR check, the decision stood.
And Gary Lineker claimed on Twitter that the German summer signing was ‘daft’ for giving the referee a decision to make by sliding in, but denied that it was a legitimate penalty.

It was Leeds’ first Premier League win since 2004, but it won’t be the last entertaining game they’re involved in from now until May.
