Tottenham Hotspur beat West Ham United 3-2 this evening.
Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen looks dejected
Match of the Day host and former Tottenham striker Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to comment on Vincent Janssen’s performance against West Ham United this evening.
In an entertaining London derby at White Hart Lane, Michail Antonio headed West Ham in front after Cheikhou Kouyate had hit the crossbar with a header of his own, before midfielder Harry Winks – making his first Premier League start – converted from close range to draw Spurs level after the break.
West Ham managed to go back in front when Vincent Janssen brought down Winston Reid from a Dimitri Payet corner, with Manuel Lanzini stepping up to score the resulting penalty and put the Hammers on the verge of a win.
However, Slaven Bilic’s men fell apart in the dying stages, as Harry Kane converted Heung-min Son’s cross, before Son was brought down by Havard Nordtveit with just seconds to spare, and Kane scored from the spot to give Tottenham a 3-2 win.
Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen looks dejected
In a hot-and-cold performance from Spurs, some players caught the eye, but others disappointed, like playmaker Christian Eriksen and striker Janssen.
The Dutchman, 22, has still yet to score his first Premier League goal from open play following his summer move from AZ Alkmaar, and he not only struggled to make an impact going forward against West Ham, but compounded his own misery by giving away the penalty.

Janssen has been compared to previous Spurs flop Roberto Soldado, because he continues to score penalties but struggle in open play, much like Soldado did following his own big-money move from Valencia back in 2013.
During the game, Match of the Day host and former Tottenham striker Gary Lineker took to Twitter to suggest that Janssen was so disappointing against West Ham, that he’s actually doing his best to make Soldado look like he was a good signing.
