Tottenham impressed on Wednesday evening as they beat Chelsea 2-0 at White Hart Lane.

Former Tottenham Hotspur stars Gary Lineker, Graham Roberts and Ray Clemence have reacted on Twitter to Spurs’ 2-0 home win over Chelsea.

The final Premier League game before the FA Cup Third Round saw Tottenham host Chelsea in one of the most anticipated games of the season, given the rivalry between the two sides and their respective form.

Spurs’ 4-1 win away at Watford on Sunday made it four victories in a row, whilst Chelsea made the short trip to North London having won 13 games in a row under Antonio Conte.

Somebody’s winning run was coming to an end, and it proved to be Chelsea, as Tottenham pulled off an outstanding 2-0 win at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham were the better side in the first half and struck before half time as Dele Alli headed Christian Eriksen’s cross into the top corner of the net, and the same combination struck again after the break as Alli met another Eriksen cross, heading past Thibaut Courtois to make it 2-0.

With a strong defensive display, a dominant midfield and a dangerous attack, Tottenham served up the complete performance against their London rivals, and moved up into third place, above Arsenal and Manchester City.

After the final whistle, former Spurs striker and current Match of the Day host Gary Lineker took to Twitter to praise Tottenham for a ‘very good performance’, and suggested that they were excellently coached, and livened up the title race.

Other ex-Tottenham players also reacted, as Graham Roberts hailed Victor Wanyama and goal hero Dele Alli for his performances, whilst Ray Clemence noted that the title race is open again, and he also praised the atmosphere at White Hart Lane.
