Tottenham Hotspur have tied Dele Alli down to a new contract, the club announced earlier today.

Alli’s contract will run until 2024, a huge commitment from the Premier League side.

Former Tottenham star Gary Lineker has praised the deal, using Twitter to commend the club for the move.

He stated that keeping Alli is more important than gambling on another signing, with Spurs failing to make any in the summer.

Alli returned to action for Spurs last night after a short spell out injured and almost set up Erik Lamela for an equaliser against Manchester City.

The midfielder has been a tremendous signing for Tottenham since joining in 2015 for just £5 million from MK Dons.

The 22-year-old has gone on to play more than 150 games for Tottenham, and is just two short of reaching 50 goals.
