Mike Phelan took charge of Hull City in the summer following the departure of Steve Bruce.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Everton striker Gary Lineker has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to the dismissal of Mike Phelan as the Hull City manager.

Hull parted company with Phelan on Tuesday evening following a run of poor results.

The former Manchester United player was appointed in the role on a permanent contract in October after taking over the team on a temporary basis in the summer following the departure of Steve Bruce, who is now in charge of Championship club Aston Villa.

The Tigers, who got promoted from the Championship at the end of last season, are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment.

Hull have picked up just 13 points from 20 matches so far this season and appear set to go down back to the second tier of English football.

Former Tottenham and Everton striker Lineker has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Hull’s decision to part ways with Phelan.
