In form Liverpool midfielder netted against Spain, and then got injured.

Just when Liverpool thought their players were going to get through international week unscathed… in form Adam Lallana picked up an injury.

England’s international match against Spain had begun so well for Lallana too.

He provided the defence splitting pass which saw Jamie Vardy win a penalty, before he went on to convert it, continuing his impressive England scoring run of late.

His early performance had Match of the Day host Gary Lineker lauding his talent, commenting on Twitter to praise the Liverpool man.

So it was cruel luck when he was forced off with an injury midway through the first half, and replaced with Arsenal forward Theo Walcott.

Lallana was able to leave the pitch of his own accord, albeit with a bit of a limp, and the extent of his injury will have to be established when he returns to Liverpool’s training base on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old has been integral to Liverpool’s good form this season, scoring three goals and providing five assists amid the Reds’ stunning ascent to the top of the Premier League table.
