Gary Lineker was impressed with the performance of the Sunderland goalkeeper on Sunday.
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his admiration of Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Pickford featured for Sunderland in the Premier League game against Tottenham away from home at White Hart Lane on Sunday evening.
The 22-year-old started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as the Black Cats slumped to a 1-0 defeat.
England international striker Harry Kane scored the only goal of the game just before the hour mark.
Former Tottenham and Leicester City striker Lineker was following the match, and he was impressed with the performance of Pickford in the first half.
The youngster made as many as 11 saves over the course of the 90 minutes and was (arguably) the best player for Sunderland in the match.
Sunderland manager David Moyes was also impressed with Pickford’s performance against Tottenham.
The former Everton and Manchester United manager, though, highlighted where the young goalkeeper needs to improve.
“Jordan Pickford is going to be a very good keeper,” Moyes told BBC Sport (19:04). “He has a lot of work to do at the moment, more than I’d like him to get. He will get better.
“There are small things he can brush up on. Sometimes his kicking was too long and we couldn’t get on the end of it but, overall, he has a real good future ahead of him.”
Over the course of the 90 minutes at White Hart Lane on Sunday evening, visitors Sunderland had just 26% of the possession, took six shots of which two were on target, and earned one corner, according to BBC Sport.
