Celtic’s Champions League campaign got off to a disappointing but not unexpected start last night.

They were facing off against the summer’s big spenders, Paris Saint-Germain and were beaten 5-0 at home.

New additions Neymar and Kylian Mbappe were both on the scoresheet as PSG put the scoreline beyond doubt before half-time.

Pundit and BT Sport host Gary Lineker commented on Twitter as PSG were running away with the win.

Lineker was of the opinion that the result, even at 3-0 down, was purely a product of the money spent by PSG.

Unfortunately for Celtic this was the home leg and playing at the Parc de Princes against this side will be an even more daunting prospect.

Celtic faces ties against Bayern Munich and Anderlecht later in the group stages and will hope to get the better of the Belgian side at least.

The only consolation was that this was not as bad as the 7-0 loss suffered to Barcelona last year, but it’s hardly anything for them to brag about.
