The BBC and BT Sport host feels Liverpool are getting a ‘good ‘un’ in the Aston Villa striker.
Gary Lineker has criticised Liverpool’s recent recruitment but feels Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke will be a good signing for the Anfield outfit.
According to BBC Sport, the 24-year-old is set for a medical at Melwood.
And Match of the Day host Lineker feels Benteke is just what Liverpool need to solve their problems in front of goal.
A matter of fit
Opinion has been divided on Aston Villa’s Benteke but it is simply a matter of fit whether he succeeds at Liverpool.
The Belgian can no doubt score a wide range of goals but there is no denying his standout ability being in the air – he won more headers than any other Premier League player last term.
If Brendan Rodgers can finally adapt his tactics, then, or complement Benteke with a winger, there is every chance he can offer Liverpool something. But history suggests otherwise – and we could be seeing another Mario Balotelli.
That wouldn’t mean Benteke is a bad player. It would simply mean the Reds haven’t thought their transfer policy through again. Supporters will no doubt hope otherwise.
