Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after Brentford secured promotion to the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Swansea.

Goals from Ivan Toney and Emiliano Marcondes – both of which came within the first half – earned Thomas Frank’s side the win.

Brentford will now be playing Premier League football for the first time in their history, in what is a richly deserved achievement.

After all, the Bees have come so close in recent seasons, and lost to Fulham in the Play-Off final this time last year.

Now, despite losing Ollie Watkins and Saïd Benrahma, Brentford have done it.

Shortly after the full-time whistle, Gary Lineker took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Brentford’s brilliant achievement.

You can see what the BBC Match of the Day host tweeted below.

Brentford are an example to everyone else

Forgot plunging millions and millions of pounds into a promotion charge – Brentford have achieved promotion organically, and in a fantastic way.

As the table above shows, the Bees have been masterful in their approach to recruitment, and also in knowing when to move their assets on.

To have sold Watkins, before replacing him with Toney – who scored an incredible 33 goals this season – for £5 million was unbelievable business.

They have a phenomenal footballing model and, at long last, it has paid dividends.
