Calvert-Lewin provided the assist for Wayne Rooney to score the opener for the visitors against City at The Etihad last night.
Calvert-Lewin’s impact and confidence sparked praise from Match of the day host Lineker, in reaction to Rooney’s goal.
Calvert-Lewin was part of the England under-20 squad which won the World Cup earlier this summer, and has played with real confidence upon his return.
He has been impressive in the Europa League this summer and impressed in Everton’s opening weekend victory against Stoke City.
It is testament to Calvert-Lewin’s ability that he is getting game time for Everton despite their spending spree in the summer, and he appears determined not to give manager Ronald Koeman an opportunity to leave him out.
To be able to step up and produce in such a big game like last night is further credit to the youngster, who is marking himself out as a real talent to keep an eye on right now, not just in the future.
