Gary Lineker is a big fan of the Liverpool star, it would seem.

Liverpool moved back to within six points of Premier League leaders Chelsea by thrashing Stoke City 4-1 at Anfield on Tuesday night.

But the Reds had to do it the hard way after Jon Walters fired the visitors ahead on 12 minutes, though the brilliant Adam Lallana levelled up with 10 minutes to go in the first half.

Roberto Firmino then gave Liverpool a 2-1 half-time lead when his effort clipped the post and dribbled over the line, before a Giannelli Imbula Wanga own goal and another from Daniel Sturridge completed the rout by Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Merseyside club move second in the Premier League and one point ahead of third-placed Manchester City.

It was another fine team performance by Liverpool, but Gary Lineker was left singing the praises of one man in particular at full time.

Lallana has certainly been in fine form this season.

The former Southampton midfielder has netted seven Premier League goals and set up another six in 16 games this season. He is undoubtedly one of the most improved players under Klopp and Liverpool fans will be desperate to see him maintain, if not improve, this level.
