Phil Foden, reported wanted by Newcastle United and Southampton in January, was in action for Manchester City on Saturday.

Phil Foden is one of the best young players in England, and there is no surprise that Newcastle United and Southampton reportedly wanted to sign the midfielder from Manchester City.
According to a recent report in The Irish Sun, Newcastle and Southampton made approaches to sign Foden on loan in the January transfer window, but City turned them down.
The 18-year-old is starting to break into the City team, and although he is going to find it tough to establish himself in Pep Guardiola’s starting lineup, the teenage midfielder is progressing well.
The England Under-21 international was in action for City on Saturday, as he featured in the FA Cup fifth-round tie against Newport County away from home.

The midfielder played well and scored two goals in City’s 4-1 win, and Tottenham Hotspur legend Gary Lineker was impressed.
The former England international striker believes that Foden is a great talent, and has raved about the youngster – who earns £12,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com.
