The Premier League champions lost to Manchester United this weekend.
Leicester City’s Demarai Gray and Andy King come on as substitutes at the start of the second half
Manchester United punished Premier League champions Leicester City at Old Trafford this afternoon, as they stormed back to form in a 4-1 win.
The Red Devils were already 4-0 up at half-time. Goals from Chris Smalling, Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba saw United open up such a big lead and effectively they killed the game.
Leicester City’s Demarai Gray scores their first goal
Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri, knowing the game was gone, decided to think ahead to the Champions League clash with Porto in midweek.
The Italian took both Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez off at half-time.
Gary Lineker
It was a decision that was praised by one famous Leicester City fan. Former England international and Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker sent this tweet:
In the end, one of those that came on scored Leicester’s goal.
Demarai Gray cut in from the left and smashed a screaming effort into the top corner beyond Manchester United goalie David De Gea.
This also got praise from Lineker:
Leicester will now be hoping to put this defeat firmly behind them when they take on their Portuguese opposition in the Champions League this week.
