Maddison’s two goals and five assists for Spurs before last night all came away from home, so he was really waiting for lift-off at Tottenham’s home.

The moment finally came after the break with Maddison slotting past Bernd Leno to effectively seal Tottenham’s win.

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker has now taken to Twitter to hail Maddison, offering a four-word verdict – ‘such a beautiful footballer’.

Maddison suffered relegation with Leicester last season and really needed to get back on track with his move to Tottenham.

Spurs boss Postecoglou suggested in September that Maddison was simply perfect for Tottenham and we are really seeing that on the pitch.

Maddison is certainly proving Postecoglou right at the moment, turning in dazzling performances to give Tottenham a new dimension.

Maddison’s interplay around the penalty area is something Spurs fans haven’t seen since the Christian Eriksen days.
