Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after Cristiano Ronaldo beat Mohamed Salah to the Premier League Player of the Month award.
What’s the story?
Well, despite scoring three goals in three games throughout September, Salah has been beaten to the award by Ronaldo.
It comes after the five-time Ballon d’Or winner also hit three goals in three games, although his efforts didn’t land as many points as Salah’s did.
The Egypt international helped the Reds win two of their three games whilst drawing the other.
In Ronaldo’s case, he also helped Manchester United to two wins, but suffered a defeat against Aston Villa.

We can’t help but agree with the BBC Match of the Day host.
Mohamed Salah was far better than Cristiano Ronaldo

Yes, the statistics don’t lie – both men scored three goals each.
However, anyone who watched the Premier League during September will know that Salah completely dominated the division.
The 29-year-old netted his 100th Premier League goal in the 3-0 win over Leeds, and also grabbed a vital second in a tough game against Crystal Palace.

Not to discredit Ronaldo, but two of his goals were tap-ins, while his overall output was not as busy as Salah’s was.
In our view, Ronaldo’s global popularity landed him this award, as it did go down to a vote after all – as popular as Salah is, he’s no match for arguably the most marketable footballer in history.
Hopefully, Liverpool’s No.11 uses this as motivation to win the award for October – he’s more than capable of doing so.
