Arsenal’s disappointing run of form continued at the weekend, as the Gunners went down 3-1 to Liverpool away from home at Anfield in the Premier League.
The North London outfit conceded the first goal of the match on Saturday evening after just nine minutes when Roberto Firmino found the net.
Sadio Mane made it 2-0 to the home team on 40 minutes, and although Danny Welbeck halved the deficit in the 57th minute, Georginio Wijnaldum secured the three points for the Reds with his goal in the first minute of injury time.
Tottenham Hotspur legend Gary Lineker was following the match, and he made a couple of amusing posts about Arsenal on social networking site Twitter.
The former Spurs striker Lineker jokingly claimed that the Gunners were saving themselves for this week’s match against Bayern Munich.
Arsene Wenger’s side will take on Bayern at the Emirates Stadium in the second leg of the Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday evening.
Having lost the first leg 5-1 at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Arsenal are virtually out of the Champions League.
Lineker also made a joke about Arsenal not starting Alexis Sanchez against Liverpool. The Chile international forward came on as a substitute at half time against Liverpool on Saturday evening.
