Gary Lineker says that Arsenal summer signing Lucas Perez will not be as prolific as Leicester City star Jamie Vardy.

Gary Lineker has told talkSPORT that Arsenal forward Lucas Perez will not score as many goals as Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy will.

The former Leicester and Tottenham Hotspur striker has also claimed that Vardy would walk into the Arsenal starting lineup.

According to talkSPORT, Vardy was a top target for the Gunners in the summer retransfer window, but the England international decided to remain at the King Power Stadium instead.

Arsenal signed Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer transfer window.

According to BBC Sport, the North London outfit had to pay Deportivo a transfer fee of £17.1 million in order to secure the services of the 28-year-old forward.

Former Tottenham and Leicester striker Lineker believes that Perez is not going to be as prolific as Vardy.

Leicester's Jamie Vardy reacts

“I think he’d walk into Arsenal’s team,” Vardy told talkSPORT. “Have you seen their centre-forwards? They’re fine but they’re not as prolific as Vardy. They are not as quick as Vardy and they don’t give you the options Vardy does.

“Olivier Giroud is a certain kind of target man. He will get his one goal in three or whatever it is.

“Lucas Perez, who they’ve brought in, I quite like but he’s not going to be as prolific as Vardy.”
