Gary Lineker has lauded Miguel Almiron on social media after the Newcastle United star scored yet another goal as the Toon claimed a 4-1 win against Southampton.

Taking to Twitter, the former England international was full of praise for the 28-year-old winger, who this season has been one of the best players in the Premier League as Almiron bagged his seventh goal of the season for Newcastle, the forward’s best tally ever in the English top-flight.

Newcastle climbed to third in the Premier League standings following their win on the south coast against Southampton, and optimism around a European finish is growing amongst supporters, especially with Almiron showing no signs of slowing down with his incredible goalscoring exploits.

The attacker has been in sensational form for Eddie Howe’s side this season, and there is an expectation from fans for Almiron to maintain his incredible run following his nomination for the Premier League Player of the Month award earlier this week.

Indeed, Almiron’s exploits have played a massive reason in Newcastle’s incredible year, and the winger’s latest goal for the Magpies was another stark remainder that the club need to work on handing the South American superstar a new contract ahead of the January transfer window.

Signed for a reported £21m in 2019 according to Sky Sports News, Almiron’s Newcastle career looked dead and buried not too long ago. However, a tweak in the system by Howe has birthed new life into the Paraguayan’s time in the northeast, and the Toon should soon reward the attacker.

After all, Almiron has arguably been Newcastle’s best player this season and the Toon’s most important in recent weeks. And with January fast approaching, the Premier League side must do all they can to commit the attacker to a new deal that best reflects his sensational run of form.
