Gary Lineker has jokingly aimed a dig at Gareth Bale when referencing the Tottenham star’s astonishing La Liga record for Real Madrid.
The BBC Match of the Day host – formerly of Tottenham himself – posted the eight-word tweet when he was reminded about his record being broken.

Lineker’s long-standing record of being the leading British scorer in La Liga history was smashed by Bale in 2016, after the Welshman scored in Real Madrid’s 4-0 win over Sevilla.
By netting the landmark goal, the Southampton academy graduate took his tally to 43 in 76 games for Los Blancos.
In doing so, he surpassed Lineker’s 42 goals in 103 games for Barcelona between 1986 and 1989 as ESPN document.
The Tottenham No.9 – who is being paid £220,000-a-week by Tottenham right now – didn’t stop there, however.
Bale eventually went on to net a remarkable 105 goals in 251 games for Real Madrid, which is more than the iconic Brazilian Ronaldo’s tally of 104 for the Spanish giants.
Regardless of how his time at the Santiago Bernabeu went before his return to Tottenham, you simply can’t deny that the Cardiff-born forward is one of the best players in Real Madrid’s history.
Bale won four Champions League titles and two La Liga titles, surpassing Lineker both in terms of silverware and in terms of goals.
