Gary Lineker was impressed with the performance of Caglar Soyuncu for Leicester City against Tottenham Hotspur, and believes that he is the reason why the Foxes did not sign a replacement for Harry Maguire, as posted on Twitter.

Manchester United signed England international central defender Maguire from Leicester in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Sun to be worth £80 million.

Soyuncu joined the Foxes in the summer of 2018, and the Turkey international defender was in action against Tottenham at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.

The 23-year-old should have done better for Harry Kane’s goal, but other than that, the youngster did well, made smart decisions, and was calm and composed on the ball.

According to WhoScored, the Turkey international defender had a pass accuracy of 89.2%, won two headers, made three tackles, three interceptions and nine clearances.

So far this season, Soyuncu has made six appearances in the Premier League for Leicester, providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.

Former Leicester and Tottenham striker Gary Lineker has praised Soyuncu on Twitter, while ex-Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen was impressed with the assist provided by Hamza Choudhury for the winning goal.
