Gary Lineker has congratulated Rangers on winning the Scottish Premiership title.
The Gers ended their decade-long wait to reign supreme in Scottish football this afternoon.
Celtic’s 0-0 draw away to Dundee United ensured that Rangers – who have won 28 and drawn four of their 32 Premiership games this season – cannot be caught.
It’s an emotional occasion for the Ibrox side by virtue of the fact that they were demoted several divisions at the beginning of the decade due to financial issues which almost made the club extinct.
But what an unbelievable job Steven Gerrard has done since taking the reins in Glasgow.
And here’s how Lineker reacted to the achievement on Twitter this afternoon:
This is Rangers’ 55th league title and no doubt somebody like Gerrard will be looking ahead to 56 next season.
Remember, Celtic have dominated Scottish football for the past 10 years – particularly during the Brendan Rodgers era – and Gerrard himself will want to build the same sort of dynasty at Ibrox.
