Gary Lineker has joked on BT Sport, during their live coverage, that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s job must be safe now.

Rumours have surfaced on social media in recent weeks suggesting that Klopp could depart Liverpool.

However, the German boss has been quick to swat those whispers aside.

And Lineker joked, after Liverpool beat RB Leipzig 2-0 in the Champions League, that Klopp had likely done enough to save himself from the sack.

“His job is probably safe,” he laughed.

Michael Owen also responded, suggesting that whoever created the rumour clearly isn’t a Liverpool supporter.

“Before tonight and after tonight this fella has done wonders,” Owen said.

“It’s not a Liverpool fan that’s saying that, starting those kind of rumours, it can’t be. He’s been a breath of fresh air for Liverpool over the years and hopefully many more years to come.”

Klopp certainly shouldn’t be under any pressure at Liverpool whatsoever, despite their disappointing run of form of late.

The Reds have had some hugely testing circumstances to deal with this season and it is testament to the squad they have put together that they are still in contention for a top four place.

Liverpool are also progressing well in the Champions League, and last night’s 2-0 win over Leipzig leaves them with one foot in the next round, ahead of the second leg.
