Gary Lineker explains why he feels sorry for Celtic

Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side picked up an impressive win in the Champions League last night.

Gary Lineker has told BT Sport during their Champions League coverage, which was broadcast on 27th September, that he feels sorry for Celtic because of their draw in Europe.

Celtic have put in a group with giants PSG and Bayern Munich, which makes Brendan Rodgers’ side’s chances of making it into the knockout stages unlikely.

And Lineker claims that the Bhoys have been unfortunate, as their football is of such a high standard that they would have qualified in weaker groups.

He said: “You feel sorry for Celtic here, that they have PSG and Bayern Munich in their group. Playing that sort of stuff in other groups might have seen them through.”

Celtic won 3-0 against Anderlecht last night, after putting in a brilliant display, which highlighted their quality.

Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers has already stated that his mission is to help Celtic book their place in the Europa League knockout stages by finishing in third place in their group, and victory over Anderlecht has helped the Glasgow side take a giant step towards achieving their aim.

Celtic still have a chance of qualifying from their group in the Champions League, but they are likely to have to beat Bayern Munich to do so.

Rodgers’ side host the German champions, in a match which is sure to be a serious test of their quality.
