Gary Lineker has sent his congratulations to Riyad Mahrez on Twitter following his Ballon d’Or nomination.
The 25-year-old winger won the PFA Player of the Year last season after helping Leicester win the Premier League.
The Algerian schemer scored 17 times and set up another 11 last term, and he has four goals in all competitions this season – including three in the Champions League.

And Leicester fan Lineker has taken a moment to congratulate the Foxes star over his nomination.
Mahrez’s City team-mate Jamie Vardy is also in the reckoning, as is Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris, West Ham’s Dimitri Payet, Manchester City stars Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne, and Manchester United pair Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Three of those nominees come up against each other on Saturday as Claudio Ranieri’s Premier League champions visit Tottenham and in-form at White Hart Lane.
They have endured a testing defence of their title so far, with City picking up 11 points from a possible 27 in a run of form which leaves them 12th in the table.
