Tottenham Hotspur are no closer to moving out of Wembley.

Gary Lineker attends the World Premiere of 'Make Us Dream' at The Curzon Soho on November 14, 2018 in London, England.

Gary Lineker has told talkSPORT that Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium is ‘killing’ them financially at the moment.

Tottenham have had plenty of setbacks in their attempts to move out of Wembley and into the £850 million refurbished White Hart Lane.

But according to Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, it’s ‘tough’ for him to see the move being complete before this season is over [The Guardian].

Pochettino hasn’t signed a single player in any of the last two transfers window, forcing the Argentine to rely on the squad he already had left over from last season.

The North Londoners are eight points behind top-of-the-table Liverpool, and they have a Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

All things considered, it has been another excellent season for Tottenham under the former Espanyol coach, but Lineker can’t shake the feeling that the stadium expenditure is having a tremendous knock-on effect for their finances.

“They’re obviously strapped for cash at the minute,” he told talkSPORT. “The stadium is obviously killing them in that respect, as they have to put everything into that in a financial sense.

“I know they’ve been knocked out of two cup competitions in quick succession, but they’re only five points off Liverpool at the top now and they’re in the last 16 of the Champions League.

“So all things considered I think they’re doing really well, brilliant in fact.”

Ex-Spurs player Gary Lineker looks on prior to the Barclays Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United at White Hart Lane on April 10, 2016 in London, England.
