Arsenal thumped their London rivals on Saturday evening.
Arsenal picked up a fourth successive Premier League win on Saturday by thumping an out-of-sorts Chelsea 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
Alexis Sanchez got the rout underway on 11 minutes by latching on to a loose back pass from Gary Cahill and wonderfully clipping over Thibaut Courtois.
Three minutes later, it was two when Theo Walcott finished off a fantastic passing move by tapping into an empty net from close range – his third goal of the season.
And Mesut Ozil’s mis-hit volley found the corner of the net via the crossbar five minutes before the break as Arsenal ruthlessly took advantage of a rather poor performance from the Blues.
On another celebratory note, it was manager Arsene Wenger’s first game since celebrating 20 years as Gunners boss – and what a way to mark it.
Gary Lineker congratulated the veteran Frenchman on Twitter after Ozil’s third, and had earlier described Walcott’s second as a “sensational goal”.
On paper, it should have been Arsenal’s toughest game of the season, but Wenger’s side came though it unscathed.
From a fan’s perspective, it may be tempted to get carried away with the result, but it was perhaps more a reflecton on Chelsea’s frailties than Arsenal’s quality.
That being said, it was Arsenal who directly forced some of the errors which led to goals.
