Gary Lineker has labelled Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon as ‘one of the most exciting fullbacks in our game’, as he told Match of the Day.
The former England striker added that Antonio Conte is starting to show ‘faith’ in the Tottenham 21-year-old by constantly starting him for games.
On Tuesday night, Sessegnon started for his side as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Championships side, Middlesbrough.
During the game, Sessegnon was enjoying a great battle with Boro’s very own flyer, Isaiah Jones – he has been linked to the Premier League and specifically to Arsenal, so his talents may land on the bigger stage pretty soon.
And this is the comment Lineker made about the duo, before talking about Conte’s ‘faith’ in Sessegnon.
“Sessegnon vs Jones, probably two of the most exciting fullbacks in our game,” said Lineker.
“It’s five games consecutive that he has played. It’s good that he is getting a run in the side. Conte obviously has faith in him.”

Sessegnon is currently playing ahead of Sergio Reguilon on the left channel for Spurs.
The Spain international has missed recent games because of illness and it will be interesting to see if he’s introduced back into the fold.
Either way, Sessegnon, who used to score goals for fun in Fulham colours, hasn’t really hit the heights he would have liked since moving across the other side of London.
Injury after injury just hasn’t helped the versatile attacker, but he is starting to earn those consistent minutes under Conte.
The problem he finds is that only Brentford have lost more matches since the turn of the year than Tottenham and that isn’t helping the progress of the players, the team or the manager in the dugout.
