Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after The Athletic posted a survey showing how each club’s fanbase regards the man in charge.

The Athletic’s data shows that only 45.68% of Tottenham fans would be happy if José Mourinho remained in charge next season.

Only Newcastle fans dislike their club’s manager more, as just 25.41% of them would be happy if Steve Bruce stayed.

What baffled Lineker, however, was that 3.56% of Leicester fans wouldn’t be happy to have Brendan Rodgers at the King Power Stadium next term.

That is truly bizarre – Lineker isn’t alone, as it’s also baffled us.

The Irishman currently has Leicester sat third in the Premier League, seven points clear of West Ham in fifth.

The Foxes should qualify for the Champions League, having only just missed out by four points last season – Rodgers is doing an outstanding job in the Midlands.

On that note, it’s no surprise that the 48-year-old is Tottenham’s No.1 choice to replace Mourinho, according to 90min.

Manchester City and Barcelona are also admirers of Rodgers, but he is believed to be at the top of Daniel Levy’s list of candidates to replace the 58-year-old.

The Times also revealed that Rodgers is on Tottenham’s list.

If Levy can somehow get the Northern Irishman to north London, it would be among his best managerial appointments for Spurs.
