The Dutchman took charge at Everton in the summer and has them seventh in the table at present.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, former Everton striker Gary Lineker has backed Ronald Koeman to be a hit at the club.

The Dutchman took charge at Goodison Park in the summer when they lured him from Southampton.

He enjoyed a very strong start to life on Merseyside, with the Blues making their best start to a Premier League campaign.

Things have turned against them in recent months, though, with several disappointing performances culminating in the humiliating 5-0 loss to Chelsea before the international break.

That defeat was a disappointing one, to say the least, but Lineker has backed him for success in future.

“He’s very tactically astute and a strong personality which is important in this day and age,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“He got off to a great start and obviously the results haven’t been quite as brilliant in the last few weeks but you van see he’s making progress. It’s early days but I think he’ll do a really good job here.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how Everton develop under Ronald Koeman in future.

Aside from a few disappointing results, things have looked positive for the Blues under his leadership so far, especially after a disappointing few years under Roberto Martinez.

How successful he is at the club is likely to be dependent on the work he can do in the transfer window.

If he is back by Farhad Moshiri, as the club chief has promised he will be, then it is easy to see Everton competing at the top in future with him at the helm.
