Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Aston Villa’s win against Derby County on Monday afternoon.
Villa have got the better of Derby 2-1 at Wembley Stadium in London in the Championship playoff final.
Anwar El Ghazi put Villa in the lead after 44 minutes, and John McGinn doubled the advantage on 59 minutes.
Derby halved the deficit on 81 minutes through Martyn Waghorn, but the Villans held on for the win.
The result means that Dean Smith’s side will play in the Premier League next season, while the Rams remain in the Championship.
Tottenham Hotspur legend Lineker was following the match, and he has sent a message to Villa on Twitter following their win against Derby.
Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has also congratulated the Villans on their win.
Over the course of the 90 minutes at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday afternoon, Villa had 43% of the possession, took nine shots of which three were on target, and earned three corners, according to BBC Sport.
Derby had 57% of the possession, took 11 shots of which two were on target, and earned five corners, according to BBC Sport.
