Newcastle United defeated West Ham United 3-0 at St James’ Park on Saturday.

Newcastle United secured their first win of the 2017/18 Premier League campaign, beating West Ham United 3-0 at St James’ Park on Saturday.
Both teams began the campaign with two defeats, but it was the home side who looked more positive in their approach.
New signing Joselu opened the scoring for the Magpies after some good work from Mikel Merino and Christian Atsu.

The hosts grew in confidence and created several good opportunities. In the 72nd minute, Matt Ritchie delivered a superb ball into the area which was nodded in by Ciaran Clark.
Aleksandar Mitrovic, who came on as a substitute, put the icing on the cake when he scored in the closing minutes to seal the full three points for the home side.

Benitez has praised Ritchie after the game, saying he is an “important player”. Newcastle had only 37% possession in the match, but had eight shots on target compared to three from West Ham, according to BBC Sport.
Former England striker and BBC pundit Gary Lineker took to Twitter and shared his reaction after Newcastle’s victory.
Former Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given has also expressed his reaction on Twitter.
