Tottenham Hotspur produced one of the greatest nights in their history on Wednesday when they reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Gary Lineker and Patrick van Aanholt reacted with different emotions on Twitter after Tottenham Hotspur knocked Manchester City out of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
In one of the most remarkable games seen in European football, Spurs won the all-English tie on away goals, with Raheem Sterling seeing what he thought was a stoppage-time winner ruled out by VAR.
Pep Guardiola’s side won the second-leg encounter 4-3, but that costly 1-0 defeat in the first leg, especially that penalty miss by Sergio Aguero, will now haunt them for a long time.
After the match, Match of the Day pundit and former England striker, Lineker sent this passionate message about the match on his personal Twitter account:
Added with that, Crystal Palace defender, Van Aanholt hilariously compared the drama-filled game to an episode of the popular series Game of Thrones, as posted on his own personal Twitter account:
VAR played a big part in the game, and ultimately, the decision review system proved its worth because it rightly disallowed Sterling’s stoppage-time winner for offside.
That wasn’t the only decision VAR made. In the second half, when Aguero had put his team in front in the tie, Fernando Llorente rose above all from a corner to score.
Replays suggested that the ball might have skimmed his arm, but the referee rightly allowed the goal, which in the end proved to be the crucial strike.
