Liverpool kept pace with Arsenal and Manchester City in the Premier League title race by beating Crystal Palace 4-2 at Selhurst Park on Saturday night.

The three points ensured that Jurgen Klopp’s side move back to being level on points with their top-flight rivals this season.

Goals from Emre Can and Dejan Lovren, either side of James McArthur’s brief equaliser, had Liverpool leading 2-1 inside 21 minutes following a rip-roaring opening to the contest in London yesterday evening.

The Scottish midfielder scored again shortly after the half-hour mark as Palace looked like being level at the break, but Joel Matip restored the Reds’ slender lead moments before the half-time whistle.

The second half did not prove as eventful as the previous one, but Roberto Firmino grabbed a fourth on 71 minutes as Liverpool impressed again under Klopp.

Gary Lineker commented on Twitter afterwards that Liverpool’s football was simply “scrumptious”, while Linda Henry, wife to the club’s owner John W Henry, also reacted on social media.
