Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle United won against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.
Newcastle United maintained their good run of form at the weekend, as they got the better of Arsenal 2-1 at home in the Premier League.
The Magpies headed into the match against the Gunners at St. James’ Park on the back of 2-1 victory over Leicester City away from home at the King Power Stadium in the league.
Arsenal are a good team and will have been confident of winning at St. James’ Park, but it was Newcastle who picked up all three points from the encounter.
The win against Arsene Wenger’s side means that Newcastle have gone past the 40-point mark in the Premier League and are in the top half of the league table at the moment.
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Everton striker Gary Lineker has praised Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez on social networking site Twitter for his work at the Magpies this season.
Ex-Newcastle star Alan Shearer and Jermaine Jenas have also praised former Liverpool and Real Madrid manager Benitez for keeping the Magpies in the Premier League for one more season at least.
