Gary Lineker, Danny Murphy and Martin Keown were all in awe of Patrick Bamford’s outrageous goal for Leeds United in the FA Cup.

There is always that saying ‘the magic of the FA Cup’. Usually, it is implied when a lower league side knocks out a team higher up in the pyramid.

But you can surely also put Patrick Bamford’s stunning chest and volley goal during Leeds United’s win at Peterborough into that category.

During Liverpool’s FA Cup win at Arsenal, that moment of brilliance was talked about at half-time.

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy, who was prone to scoring a few quality goals from the middle of the park himself, stated ‘they are the ones you want on your showreel’, as he told BBC One.

Incredibly, that was only Patrick Bamford’s second goal of the season, as he continues to play second fiddle to summer signing, Joel Piroe.

You feel with moments like that, he might just be taking his game up a level for the crunch moments of the season as Leeds aim to secure a top-two finish in the Championship.

Patrick Bamford’s FA Cup goal

“Well, there was a wonder goal scored and it came from Patrick Bamford, playing for Leeds United,” said Lineker. “Have a look at this one guys.”

“Ooh, what a beauty, hey!?. That was to make it 2-0.”

Murphy added: “They are the ones you want on your showreel. They are the ones you want.”

Keown stated: “Off the chest, it’s a lovely feeling.”

Leeds United’s attack

For the Championship, and for Daniel Farke, to have someone like Bamford on the bench just goes to show the depth in attacking quality he has.

Not forgetting someone like Wilfried Gnonto. HITC Football has been told that West Ham United could make an approach for him this month.

But with the attacking quality Leeds have, there is no reason why they shouldn’t continue to push for those top two places because, whilst they are chasing and have been doing so all season, they will be disappointed if they miss out.
