Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to aim a dig at Watford after Liz Truss sacked Kwasi Kwarteng from his role as Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Well, we’ve got a bit of politics mixed in with football today, as the BBC Match of the Day host saw an opportunity to mock Watford and their love of firing managers after Truss handed Kwarteng his P45.
Lineker wrote “even Watford don’t sack ’em this quickly” on Twitter after news of the Government’s decision broke, with Jeremy Hunt now taking over from Kwarteng.

Kwarteng lasted just 39 days in the role before receiving the sack following his mini-budget announcement, which stated that there was to be £45bn in unfunded tax cuts.
This pushed the pound to a record low against the dollar, sent the cost of Government borrowing and mortgage rates up and also led to an unprecedented intervention by the Bank of England.
As a result, there have now been four Chancellor of the Exchequers so far in 2022, which is the same amount of managers Watford have hired so far this year.
Watford sack record as Kwasi Kwarteng fired
The Pozzo family began 2022 with Claudio Ranieri in charge at Vicarage Road, before appointing Roy Hodgson to save their season.
When the 75-year-old announced his departure at the end of the campaign, the Hornets moved to hire Rob Edwards to hopefully oversee an immediate return to the Premier League.
However, the Pozzo family remarkably gave the 39-year-old just 11 games in charge before moving onto Slaven Bilic, their fourth boss of the calendar year.
Even in the final few months of 2021, Watford found time to sack Xisco Munoz just seven games into the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.
Clearly, those at Vicarage Road do not know the meaning of patience, although in this instance, it’s probably for the best that Truss doesn’t either – Kwarteng’s budget had plunged the nation into turmoil.
Hopefully, Hunt does a better job than those who Watford have hired in the past to solve their mess.
