Leeds United took a big step toward the Premier League tonight.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side hammered Stoke 5-0 at Elland Road to re-establish their six-point cushion in the automatic promotion places.
And with only four matches of the regular season left, Leeds fans are starting to dream about a long-awaited return to the top flight.
Legendary right-back Gary Kelly was still at Elland Road the last time that the Whites were in the big time, all the way back in 2004.
And the former Republic of Ireland defender has tonight sent a rare tweet – his first since February – in response to the big win.
Nobody at Leeds will be counting their chickens yet, considering their late-season collapse of last season.
But there does seem to be an extra layer of resilience within Bielsa’s squad now and it’ll be a much bigger upset if they throw it away this year than it was last term.
The Whites continue their march toward the Premier League on Sunday with a difficult visit to Swansea City.
