Nottingham Forest loanee Gary Gardner played with Marc Albrighton at Aston Villa, while Leeds United striker Chris Wood is a former Leicester City player.

Aston Villa-owned Nottingham Forest midfielder Gary Gardner has taken to social networking site Twitter to congratulate Leicester City winger Marc Albrighton on winning the Premier League title this season.

Tottenham Hotspur’s failure to win against London rivals Chelsea away from home at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening means that Leicester have clinched the championship with two games to spare.

Gardner, who joined Championship side Forest on loan from Villa in the January transfer window, is happy for his former teammate Albrighton.

The duo were teammates at the Villans before the 26-year-old winger moved to Leicester in the summer of 2014.

Leeds United striker Chris Wood, who left the Foxes in the summer of 2015, has congratulated his former teammates on Twitter on a remarkable title triumph.

Albrighton has scored two goals and created 61 chances in 36 Premier League appearances for Leicester this season.

The former England Under-21 international has a pass accuracy of 64% and a shot accuracy of 39%, and has won 11 headers, 49 dribbles and 53 tackles.
