Nottingham Forest boss Gary Brazil has told his side’s official website that Sheffield Wednesday were lucky to beat them on Saturday.

Wednesday ran out 2-1 winners at the City Ground, thanks to two absolute wonder goals from Almen Abdi and Fernando Forestieri.

And Forest boss Brazil claims that even Owls manager Carlos Carvalhal admitted that his side had got lucky to claim the three points.

“I can’t fault the players’ efforts, I felt we had a real go and I spoke to Carlos afterwards and they know they have been lucky to get three points,” Brazil revealed. “We were unlucky not to get a draw on Tuesday and we were unlucky not to get a draw today.

“From a squad and club perspective, there is no good feeling sorry for ourselves; we have got to get our heads down, believe in what we are doing and the results will come.”

Forest battled hard against Wednesday but, perhaps, the signs that it was not going to be their day were evident, when Ross McCormack missed from the penalty spot in the first half.

After Kieren Westwood’s save from the spot kick Wednesday went straight down the other end and Abdi volleyed home a screamer from 25 yards.

Forestieri then netted with a piece of individual brilliance in the second period, and although Forest pulled one back it wasn’t enough.

The Reds are now winless in their last three Championship matches, and they have sunk down to 18th place in the Championship table.
