The former Leeds United boss gave a glowing reference for the player.
Nottingham Forest interim manager Gary Brazil has been discussing his recent deal to bring Ross McCormack to the club – and it seems a former Leeds United boss played a key role in the process.
The Scot’s reputation has taken a hit recently, after accusations associated with his time at Aston Villa.
He certainly was not high in the opinion polls with his Villa boss Steve Bruce, who was not pleased with the striker’s recent efforts at Villa Park.

But he was a popular figure at both Fulham and his club before that Leeds United.
Speaking to the official Nottingham Forest website Brazil mentioned that a conversation with former Leeds boss Brian McDermott had helped him make his mind up on a move for McCormack:
“To bring in the quality of a player like Ross McCormack, who is proven at this level to score goals, is great. I took some advice from Brian McDermott who was the manager at Leeds and he spoke glowingly about Ross.
“It took him about five minutes in training to gain the players’ respect completely and his ability in front of goal was encouraging.”

McCormack was a favourite of McDermott’s and was left bitterly frustrated with Massimo Cellino’s dealings with the manager on a now infamous transfer deadline day.
Leeds United fans will also know what McCormack is capable of on his day, and would likely vouch for that as well.
Forest fans will be hoping that McCormack can live up to McDermott’s reference.
