Glasgow Rangers have released Jordan Thompson from Ibrox, and the midfielder is now at Blackpool.
Rangers have decided to let go of Jordan Thompson this summer, with the midfielder spending just three years at the Ibrox club.
The 21-year-old arrived at Rangers in the summer of 2015 after leaving Manchester United, and he could make just a handful of appearances for the Gers’ first team.
During his three years as a Rangers player, the young midfielder spent time on loan at Airdrieonians, Raith Rovers and Livingston.
The Northern Ireland international midfielder has left Rangers this summer and has joined Blackpool in League One in England.
Blackpool manager Gary Bowyer has spoken highly of Thompson and seems excited at the prospect of working with the now departed Rangers midfielder.
Bowyer told The Blackpool Gazette: “We’re really pleased to bring Jordan to the club. He’s a player with great technical ability and loads of potential, so we’re looking forward to working with him. His appearances for Northern Ireland only highlight the quality he has.”
Mistake from Rangers?
Blackpool manager Bowyer seems to rate Thompson highly, and his comments may make Rangers fans wonder.
The Northern Ireland international is still only 21 years of age and is developing and progressing as a football, and maybe the Gers should have kept him on for one more season at least.
