Garth Crooks has written on BBC Sport that he is not a fan of Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

The former Tottenham forward made the comments following Spurs’ win against West Ham United in the London derby at the weekend.

Erik Lamela scored the only goal of the Premier League match at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Lloris was superb for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, as the France international goalkeeper made a number of brilliant saves between the posts.

Crooks has included the 31-year-old in his BBC Premier League Team of the Week and has praised his performance, but he has made it clear that he is not fan of the French goalkeeper.

“I might be a Tottenham fan, but I’m not a fan of Hugo Lloris,” Crooks wrote on BBC Sport about Lloris. “For a top-class goalkeeper, he makes too many errors in the games that matter. The World Cup final was a typical example.

“That is a damning indictment of the France World Cup winner, I admit, but readers of my team of the week will know I have been a consistent critic of his for the past two seasons.

“Nevertheless, he makes my team because of an excellent performance against a West Ham side who should have got something from the game.

“Saves by Lloris were the reason why they didn’t, but the claim from Mauricio Pochettino that Lloris is one of the best goalkeepers in the world is extremely generous.”

Challenging for the Premier League title

Tottenham are doing well in the Premier League at the moment and are very much in the race for the title.

Spurs may not be as spectacular as Manchester City or Liverpool, but the North London outfit are quietly going about their job.

Lloris does and has made some costly errors, but the Frenchman remains a key player for Tottenham.
