Liverpool and Everton are Merseyside rivals.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Stoke City forward believes that Everton’s problem is “managing expectations”.
The BBC pundit has also said that the Toffees’ Merseyside rivals Liverpool doing so well at the moment is not helping Silva.
Liverpool have been superb under manager Jurgen Klopp in recent years, as they won the Champions League last season and finished second in the Premier League table.
The Reds also reached the final of the Champions League in 2017-18 and the final of the Europa League in 2015-16.
Crooks wrote on BBC Sport: “Everton currently lie eighth in the table with Bournemouth above them after two games. The problem with Everton is managing expectations.
“Should the Toffees finish in the top six then their manager survives. Anything short of that then Everton’s fans will start asking their usual questions.
“It’s unfortunate for Marco Silva that Liverpool are doing so well but that’s what this is all about.”
Breaking into top six
Everton are an ambitious club and have a strong team, and this season, the Toffees will be aiming to break into the top six of the Premier League table.
There are some doubts over Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal this season, and there is a chance that the Toffees could genuinely challenge for a top-six spot.
