Garth Crooks has stated on BBC Sport that West Ham United star Arthur Masuaku played like a dream against Chelsea in the London derby at the weekend.

Masuaku featured for West Ham in the Premier League game against Chelsea at the London Stadium in the Premier League last Saturday afternoon.

The 24-year-old defender started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as the Hammers won 1-0.

The French left-back was superb for David Moyes’s side, helping out in attack, defending well and looking very comfortable on the ball.

Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Crooks was impressed with the performance of Masuaku for West Ham against Chelsea.

While including West Ham defender Winston Reid in his Premier League Team of the Week, Crooks wrote on BBC Sport: “Worthy mentions too for Michail Antonio, who ran until he literally dropped, and Arthur Masuaku, who played like a dream.”

Meanwhile, former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin was impressed with the way West Ham defended and told BBC Sport: “Chelsea might have had a lot more of the possession but West Ham had all the desire to win this game.

“If you want to learn how to defend then watch the DVD of this game and witness the Hammers’ organisation and desire. Honestly, for large spells West Ham made Chelsea look like an ordinary side.”

The win against Chelsea came as a surprise, as no one really expected West Ham to pick up all three points from the match against Antonio Conte’s side.

The result, though, has enhanced the Hammers’ chances of escaping the drop to the Championship at the end of the season.
