Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko helped the team record a crucial win over Crystal Palace.
Sissoko had come in for deserved criticism after ballooning a terrible shot over the bar when through on goal against Liverpool.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino kept faith with the Frenchman and he repaid his boss with a dynamic performance in midfield.
Sissoko’s drive and energy was crucial in the team’s 2-0 win, the first game in the new home stadium.
Ex Spurs ace Garth Crooks told BBC Sport he felt Sissoko was man of the match.
He said: “Apart from the last 15 minutes of this game, Spurs were quite comfortable. It lacked tempo in the first half but they started to find it in the second half.
“Moussa Sissoko was their best player and his temperament helped them. The clean sheet is very important for the confidence of the defence. It’s a satisfactory performance on their return home.”
Sissoko created one chance, won two tackles, and one interception.
The French midfielder has bounced back from disappointment at Spurs before and so the weekend let down at Anfield didn’t affect him.
He is a must start when Spurs take on Manchester City in the Champions League next week.
