Christian Pulisic scored for Chelsea, as they picked up a victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Chelsea ran out 2-0 winners over Palace in Saturday’s early kick-off, as they continued their fine run of form.
Pulisic’s display during the contest was highly impressive, as Chelsea found a way past Palace’s deep-lying defence.
The Eagles proved a frustrating opponent for much of the match, but Chelsea managed to find a breakthrough in the second half when Tammy Abraham finished well.
Pulisic then added a second with a header, to cap off a fine display for the American.
The in-form winger had arguably looked Chelsea’s brightest attacking threat, and Crooks thinks that Palace defender Ward will be having nightmares about coming up against the summer signing.
“Joel Ward should be given time off to get over the run around Christian Pulisic gave him at Stamford Bridge in the London derby,” Crooks said.
“Within the opening exchanges the American danced round the full-back only to be saved by Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita. Pulisic then stepped over the ball so emphatically Ward nearly had to pay to get back in the ground.
“Pulisic not only loves taking players on but scoring goals and he’s good at it. He’s not afraid to get in where it hurts either which is always a very good indicator.”
Pulisic actually made a slow start at Chelsea, but he now has five goals in his last three games.
The youngster seems to have adapted to the demands of Frank Lampard’s side now, and he is looking like an excellent addition to Chelsea’s squad.
Ward will actually be given a break after facing Pulisic, as the Premier League is on a two-week hiatus due to the international schedule.
When Chelsea return to action they will come up against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
