Everton star has already shown improvement under Sam Allardyce.
BBC pundit Garth Crooks has praised Ashley Williams’ performance against Liverpool as ‘magnificent’.
Williams has had a very tough start to the season for club and country, with his displays well below the standards he has previously set himself.
The centre-back though has retained his place under new manager Sam Allardyce, and has shown a big improvement.
He said: “At the heart of that defence was Williams who, yet again, was magnificent.
“I simply can not accept that an Everton side managed by Sam Allardyce’s predecessors Ronald Koeman or David Unsworth could have pulled such an impressive result out of the bag.”
Crooks also praised Idrissa Gueye’s display in midfield, for his crucial role in protecting the back four against Liverpool’s impressive attack.
Everton did have some wasteful finishing from Sadio Mane to thank for not being two goals down at half-time, but they stepped up their defensive efforts in the second half and provided the platform for the team to go on and claim a surprise draw.
The Toffees are now up to 10th place in the table, and will be determined to keep on moving up, hoping the worst is well behind them.
